Our first visit at this office, we were told that our baby had blood in her stool and needed to be admitted to the emergency peduatrics unit at the hospital in Savannah to be monitored. She was 3 days old...as we prepared to head to the hospital, the doctor told us instead to take her home and monitor her (drasticly different from her first reccommendation and terrifying to new parents!) She also told us to quit breast feeding immediately because our daughter might have a milk protein intolerance. Thankfully we got a 2nd opinion and were told that this is common with newborns, as they can inhale blood while being birthed, and at 3 days old is when this would pass through, so we continued breast feeding and were okay.
Our 2nd visit, their Billy Ruben reader wasn't working on HH and we were sent to Okatee, no big deal. The Dr. told us she would waive our $20 copay for the inconvenience...again, no big deal, but then we got a bill for this.
We were also told the doctor would call us back to discuss her results and schedule her 2 month visit. We never received a call, even after calling numerous times. Finally, we called to set up her 2 month appointment and they were difficult with scheduling, but got us in as they were supoosed to have called us back and neglected to do so....
The real kicker though was that we showed up 10 minutes late for her 2 month visit, as our daughter is 2 months, breast fed and sometimes fussy and needs to eat on our way out the door...they rudely pointed to the sign and told me they couldn't see her as we were TEN minutes late. Meanwhile, we are expecting a hurricane. We WILL have to evacuate, meaning we will be bringing our brand new daughter to a germ filled hotel and she hasn't even had all of her vaccinations. It is not fair to deny a child health care because her mother made the call to feed her. Especially when we are about to have a hurricane and will habe no choice but to travel with our newborn.
They are rude. They are inconsiderate. They give poor medical advice. They are the WORST. We WILL find a new pediatrician and never return.
