I called this CDC to see if they had an opening for a 5 month old; they told me they did.....Great.
I read on their website "If you're in the area, stop by for a tour. No appointment necessary." so that is what I did. So glad I did that and didnt make a hasty decision to put my son there.
I entered the facility (without having to enter in a key code on the key pad on the front door) and was smacked in the face by a strong odor of cleaning chemicals. Oh yes, I'm glad to know they clean but there are safe products to be used around children that don't have such strong smells. It may have smelled clean but it did not look very clean.
I stood in the foyer of the facility for 5 minutes and NEVER saw a single person and only heard the voice of 1 adult coming from one of the rooms. Needless to say, I turned around and walked right out and I guarantee that no one knew I was ever there.
Safety is huge these days, especially with our children and to know that anyone could walk right in to this CDC without anyone knowing, screams "STAY AWAY!!!"
I would like to encourage everyone to make an unannounced visit to any child care facility you are considering to get a real sense of how things go there. If they tell you that you HAVE to come at a certain time, it's probably so they can prepare and warn staff of visitors.
STAY AWAY FROM WEE CARE CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN IRMO!
