Motel 6 Yemassee, SC

The only reason we stopped here is because it was the only motel at this exit with rooms. As soon as we got here it was obvious why. Room stinks, smells like mold, curtains hang off at the end, etc... I've stayed in cleaner foxholes. Lodgers beware... I think I'll sleep in my car. And to top it off, the room keys are sporadic. They get one star only because you can't give 0's and negative numbers. If you have any other options than choose those because I am almost certain you will not be happy with this at any price. But I must admit - there are three groundbreaking interior design and operating innovations here. The sink area in my room has unique "art work" and they have chosen to go minimist by opting for no trash can in the room. Ingenious because it minimizes on the minimal work that their cleaning team has to do. Finally, the cold water in the room did not work - a minor point given this hotel's ratchedness, but a point nonetheless. Hopefully they'll keep these little efficiency tips to themselves - we'd hate for Hampton Inn or Red Roof Inn to p/u on that trend. Spoiler alert for those who want to clean a little trash out of your car - there is no trash can to be found outside (at least that we could see). As most of us are one time customers who patronize this business out of convenience rather than frequent customers who generate recurring revenue our input is probably discounted. The owners or franchisees are however, via their negligence, damaging the brand. Can't ever risk another Motel 6 in my future travels. Management, please don't respond to this post with the common platitude of "sorry, blah, blah...we are working on it...blah, blah..." Future families who visit here, and I would not recommend for small children - it's better suited for teens - please monitor whether they have addressed some or all of these issues. Hey, this could all be wrong...maybe they accidentally gave me the employee prank room, but I doubt it we had two rooms in different sections of the hotel, and wouldn't you know it...the second room had two trash cans...
