I cannot recommend Capagrossi Construction to anyone. He built our high-end Spec-Custom in Woodcreek and left us with a mass of major problems to include some major structural issues and a code violation that he has since refused to fix. He lied to us repeatedly throughout the build and abandoned us after the closing.
The project initially started well. He came highly recommended and we gave him a large deposit to build the home for us as our dream home with some requested changes. After he got the deposit, the problems started.
Right away he struggled to complete many of the features which we agreed to add and change and we noticed some terrible workmanship from the subs on the exterior of the house. We tried to inform him about the poor work with repeated calls, but he didn't respond. Then, we found out he fired the subs responsible, but then he got very mad at us complaining to him. He even tried to kick us out of the contract and hold our deposit contingent upon selling the house to someone else!! It was unbelievable!! He had so much of our money in earnest, we couldn't secure another home deposit so we were held hostage. We considered getting legal help, but we were forced to work things out because our 2yr rental contract was due to expire and the family was selling the house. Then things only got worse.
We agreed at contract signing to certain limit for the appliances and additions, that we would not pay any additional money until a set maximum was reached. Way before that number was close to being reached, he suddenly called us and said he was out of money and we would have to buy all the appliances and almost all the lighting for the house ourselves, out of pocket. As fools we reluctantly agreed and delivered the brand new appliances and lights. We didn't find out until after closing that he damaged one of the appliances and knew about it and didn't tell us!!? Then when we confronted him, he lied to us and claimed he didn't inform us about the damage because, "I thought you bought a second hand appliance that was damaged." All the appliances were very high-end top shelf professional appliances delivered brand new straight from the stores in sealed new boxes!! It was unbelievable!!!
Right before the closing we got hit with ten's or thousands of new overages and costs. He couldn''t seem to figure out what the final price on the home with overages was going to be so the bank was forced to delay the set closing at our expense.
If all that wasn't enough, he reluctantly agreed to fix all the items contingent upon our closing. Of course, he completely walked away from the house and abandoned us once he got his big check. Since closing we have had several major structural failures that we have waited 2 years and begged for him to fix. He has refused to fix these items to this day and we have been forced to go after him legally with a suit. He left us with a mess. Beware of this builder!
